The Foundation was named in honor and memory of Jennifer Claire Moore, a 16-year-old high school student who lost her life to suicide in 1997. In the hope that something good could develop from the tragic circumstances of her passing, her family founded the Jennifer Claire Moore Foundation in 1998.
Our Mission
The Jennifer Claire Moore Foundation’s mission is providing programs, services, and resources across Baldwin County communities and that support the social and emotional well-being of our youth.
Our Vision
The Jennifer Claire Moore Foundation's vision is to create a compassionate and informed community that instills positive mental health and resiliency in Baldwin County youth for generations to come.
Our Reach
The Jennifer Claire Moore Foundation fully funds and supports a K-12 school-based multi-tiered prevention and support program for over 50 schools in Baldwin County. This program, Peer Helpers PLUS, consists of 3 components:
P.A.T.H (Prevention & Awareness for Total Health) is a K-12 individual grade level comprehensive prevention curriculum. In grade level appropriate ways, the curricula address bullying and technology, mental health and suicide, drugs and alcohol, as well as the four types of abuse.
Peer Helpers are a diverse group of students brought together and taught communication, conflict resolution skills, coping, problem-solving and referral skills to equip students with the knowledge to support their peers through daily issues and life obstacles.
The Program Portal provides access to the current relatable curricula, allows for program delivery monitoring, and collects support data including student needs and Peer Helper referrals.
The Peer Helpers PLUS program components collectively focus on daily issues such as bullying, alcohol, drugs, sexual pressures, and family dynamics which in turn builds resiliency and coping skills in all students. Addressing these risk factors and developing life skills are both key components to reducing youth suicide.
In addition to this program, each year the Jennifer Claire Moore Foundation also provides a student education day conference, designed specifically for the Peer Helpers themselves at no charge to the students, parents, or faculty. Each Peer Helpers receives a free t-shirt and lanyard once selected.
The JCMF also provides a two-day conference for Peer Helpers PLUS Coordinators to gather information and best practices related to supporting youth with the trending issues they are currently facing. The JCMF provides this conference to ALL Baldwin County PH+ Program Schools at no charge. Their experience includes speakers from across the nation, continuing education credits, meals, and lodging.
Why Should You Donate?
The Jennifer Claire Moore Foundation is a non-profit organization founded in Baldwin County and serving Baldwin County. We are only able to provide the Peer Helpers PLUS Program and community support through grants, donors, sponsorships, and fund raisers like our Annual Professional Rodeo and our Poinsettia fundraiser.
According to cdc.gov, suicide is the second leading cause of death for people ages 10-14, and 1-in-5 youth (ages 13-18), lives with a mental health condition.
Just $10 ($1 a month for the school year) could help provide a student in Baldwin County with our P.A.T.H Curriculum.
