Grades K-3: Finding Your Song

This uplifting session focuses on the transformative power of music and its ability to foster a positive mindset. Students will discover how music impacts their emotions, share typical life experiences, and explore various sources of joy. They will learn strategies for using music to maintain a positive outlook and avoid getting stuck in negativity. As a special offering, each attendee will receive a VIP "Value in People" wristband.

Grades 4-6: We Are in This Together

This interactive session emphasizes the importance of connection and empathy within our community. Students will engage in discussions to define healthy relationships and learn how connections with peers, family, and teachers contribute to building a positive environment. Through inspiring stories of connection, they will develop their understanding of empathy and learn practical applications for recognizing and understanding others' feelings.

Grades 7-8: Controlling the Uncontrollable

In this enlightening session, students will learn to differentiate between what they can control and what they cannot. They will identify their individual levels of control and determine the factors in life that remain uncontrollable. By exploring areas of their lives where they can make an influence, they will gain insights into coping strategies for "life's moments" and managing themselves over time. Real-life scenarios will be discussed for better understanding and application.

Grades 9-12: The Unexpected

This powerful session addresses the realities of facing life's hardships unexpectedly. Students will engage in open conversations about signs of struggle and suicide, exploring support strategies to navigate these challenges. The session will cover topics such as living around substance use and addiction while promoting healthy coping mechanisms. Students will walk away equipped with practical strategies for managing difficult situations.

Grades 6-8: Suicide 101

This introductory session provides students with an understanding of suicide and its complexities. Through relatable stories and discussions, they will learn key terms such as suicide, ideation, signs, and symptoms while recognizing that life encompasses a wide range of experiences. Students will discover valuable coping strategies for managing difficult days and learn how to support friends who might be struggling.

Grades K-6 & Grades 7-12:
Healthy Choices: Finding the Balance

In this session, students will learn the importance of making balanced choices across various aspects of life. They will understand that just like a balloon has limits to how much air it can hold, our bodies and minds have their own limitations. Through discussions, students will explore the difference between healthy and unhealthy choices, recognize the benefits of a varied, nutritious diet, and understand the dangers of substance use. The importance of limiting technology use and the value of spending time with loved ones will also be emphasized, encouraging students to reflect on their personal sources of strength.
